Hello Friends,

Lots going on at the shop and elsewhere, including Nottingham Poetry Festival and the very last Lowdham Book Festival 13-26 June, which includes an event for Five Leaves poets on 20 June at 2-3pm. Check out their full programme here.

We have a new Five Leaves’ publication: Rory Waterman’s Devils in the Details which is a journey through Lincolnshire’s landscape in search of the origins and legacies of folk tales. It’s a follow-up of sorts to (though not a second volume of) our 2025 book Lincolnshire Folk Tales Reimagined.

Last week we had a belated launch for our Queer Nottingham by CJ deBarra, at the Central Library. This second volume covers 1991-2020. Around 120 people came, which is not bad for a hot Friday night in a Bank Holiday Weekend. The event ended with at least some people dancing, which is a first for us at a book launch.

We are sorry to hear of the deaths of two of our customers, Jacek Laskowski and Peter Messent. Jacek was in the Stanza poetry group and many people will remember him as the local Arts Council Literature Officer. Peter was at the School of American Studies at the University of Nottingham for many, many years.

Best wishes,
The Five Leaves Team
