In case you wanted to be reminded of your Lincolnshire heritage, Rory Waterman will be talking about his books Lincolnshire Folk Tales Reimagined and the Devils in the Details Friday 1st May @ the Red Lion, West Deeping supported by The Lincolnshire Poachers with their music from Lincolnshire’s past

Rory Waterman will read extracts from his two recent books: Devils in the Details (2026), which explores the locations, histories and legacies of folk tales in Lincolnshire, and the anthology Lincolnshire Folk Tales Reimagined (2025), co-edited with Anna Milon. He will also discuss local folk tales and the places and events associated with them, with lots of room for questions and conversation. The books were published as part of the AHRC Lincolnshire Folk Tales project, led by Rory.

Accompanied by local folk band The Lincolnshire Poachers.

Rory Waterman is Professor of Modern Literature and Creative Writing at Nottingham Trent University. His new book is Devils in the Details: On Location with Folk Tales in England’s Forgotten County (Five Leaves Publications, 2026), and he recently led the AHRC-funded project ‘Lincolnshire Folk Tales: Origins, Legacies, Connections, Futures’. He is also a critic for the Times Literary Supplement, as well as being an editor and a poet. His most recent poetry book is Come Here to This Gate (Carcanet, 2024).
