Book Launch for Devils in the Details, with Rory Waterman and others
14a Long Row, Nottingham, NG12DH
We welcome back Rory Waterman to launch his second book on the folk tales of Lincolnshire, Devils in the Details: On Location with Folk Tales in England’s Forgotten County, together with other writers from that mysterious county.
Rory Waterman will read extracts from his new Devils in the Details, which explores the locations, histories and legacies of folk tales in Lincolnshire. He will also discuss local folk tales and the places and histories associated with them, with lots of room for questions and conversation. The books were published as part of the AHRC Lincolnshire Folk Tales project, led by Rory. The talk is illustrated.
Rory will be supported by Lincolnshire writers – Kathryn Daszkiewicz and Rob Etty
Kathryn and Rob have been regularly published by Nottingham’s much-missed Shoestring Press and both have read here before.
Rory Waterman is Professor of Modern Literature and Creative Writing at Nottingham Trent University. His new book is Devils in the Details: On Location with Folk Tales in England’s Forgotten County (Five Leaves Publications, 2026), and he recently led the AHRC-funded project ‘Lincolnshire Folk Tales: Origins, Legacies, Connections, Futures’. He is also a critic for the Times Literary Supplement, as well as being an editor and a poet. His most recent poetry book is Come Here to This Gate (Carcanet, 2024).
