Irish Group Discusses: The Spinning Heart by Dónal Ryan
14a Long Row, Nottingham
Our book group is open to all- you do not have to be Irish to attend.
Attend every meeting, occasionally or just once in your life. All we ask is that you read the book in advance and take part in the discussion. There’s a short introduction by a member of staff, a group regular, or someone we know with a special interest in the book in question.
This month, the Irish Group will be discussing The Spinning Heart by Dónal Ryan
“My father still lives back the road past the weir in the cottage I was reared in. I go there every day to see is he dead and every day he lets me down. He hasn’t yet missed a day of letting me down.”
In the aftermath of Ireland’s financial collapse, dangerous tensions surface in an Irish town. As violence flares, the characters face a battle between public persona and inner desires.
Refreshments provided.
