This event was so popular, we’re doing another one! New prompts, same rage.

Spaces are very limited for these workshops, so if you sign up and can no longer make it, please let us know! We’ve has waiting lists for the last two.

Join Nottingham Women’s Collective for another poetry writing workshop with author Kate MacAlister!

Together, we’ll use words as magic and explore stories of witches, rebellious women, and genderqueer people.

“Spells are poems; poetry is spelling. Spell-poems are vehicles of
change that can take us beyond the borders of the rational into a
place where the right words can influence the universe.”
So Mayer

Join us again for a creative and empowering space where we’ll explore feminist ideas through free writing exercises, poetry, and group discussions centered on intersectionality.

This workshop is for all levels of writers, whether you’re just starting or have been writing for years.

What to expect:

  • Guided free writing to unlock your voice
  • Writing exercises and poems that channel resistance and healing
  • Space to share, listen, and discuss feminist perspectives and how they connect across race, class, gender, ability, and more
  • A supportive, inclusive environment

Feel free to bring a feminist poem you love, it can be your own, or one by a writer who inspires you.

Sharing is always optional, and there’s no pressure to read aloud.

You don’t need to bring anything (unless you have a favorite pen or notebook).
There will be multiple ways to participate in each exercise, and all feedback will be soft, constructive, and consent-based.

For FLINTA only (Women, Lesbians, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans, and Agender folks) to create a safe space for those who experience patriarchal oppression.
Come ready to write, resist, and connect.

Kate is a poet, feminist activist, and founder of the multilingual community arts and literature project Stimmen der Rebellion/Dengê Berxwedane/Voices of Rebellion.
