Sima Beeri was born in Lithuania, with Yiddish as her first language, before moving to Israel as a child, finally settling in London, where she has lived for thirty years together with a large collection of recipes on scraps of paper in five different languages.
Those scraps of paper have been turned into a cookbook suitable for domestic use for every day and special occasions, based on what is in season and what’s in your cupboard.
There’s a Jewish theme, but the recipes draw on a wider canvas, and they have their own stories.
There will be time for people to mention their own recipes!
Sima previously worked in fashion. She holds a PhD from University College London where she now teaches Yiddish.
Tickets: £4.00 including tea/coffee and – naturally – cake* made by the speaker
This event is now fully booked
