Can a planet have legal rights? Could it be defended in a court of law? How do we redefine a ‘right to life’?

Join pioneering barrister Monica Feria-Tinta for an inspiring and life-affirming evening. At the forefront of the global climate justice movement, Monica is breaking new legal ground – advocating not just for people, but for the rights of nature itself.

In this  event, the British-Peruvian barrister takes us behind the scenes of ten landmark environmental cases – from defending threatened cloud forests in the world’s first Rights of Nature case, to a landmark victory holding a sovereign state accountable for failing to act on climate change on behalf of the Torres Strait Islanders.

This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of the most visionary voices in climate law today.

Monica Feria-Tinta is a barrister specialising in public international law. She has been described as one of ‘the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers’ in the UK for her work addressing climate change and environmental degradation. A Barrister for the Earth: Ten Cases of Hope for our Future is her debut book.

A native of Peru with familial roots in the Quechua people of the Andes, Feria-Tinta’s own journey to her work as an international law barrister follows a path as a law student in Lima to becoming the first Latin American lawyer to be called to the Bar in England and Wales.
