A new Priest attempts to purify an old religion at the temple of Diana. Antistius is determined to get rid of barbaric ritual, replacing human sacrifice to amoral gods with rational worship of a transcendent ideal.  All sections of society, from Demagogues to Democrats, unite against these unwelcome innovations as they face an uncertain future threatened by war with an upstart neighbour: Rome.
