Essays with Plays and Film Scripts

Essays on Graham Greene, Dickens, James Cagney, Robert Mitchum, Watson Fothergill… the odd playscript, a film script, a bit of Freud, some hieroglyphics, the odd death mask, Bromley House… We don’t have many books like this.

Michael Eaton is an award winning dramatist, film historian, and essayist. His previous publications for Shoestring Press are The Priest of Nemi, a translation from the nineteenth-century French play by Ernest Renan, and Head Hunters: A drama based upon the Life and Works of Alfred Cort Haddon. Both publications, copiously illustrated, and with substantial and informative introductions, were warmly received, and Shoestring is delighted to be able to publish this collection of essays, monologues and dramas.
