Teachers are despised in this country: teachers’ work and status since the 1960s, with Professor Ken Jones

Monday, 5th June, 2017
4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

In association with the University of Nottingham School of Education, Centre for Arts, Creativity and Literacy.

The words are those of Professor Jane Miller, written in 2016. They address what she sees as the current situation of teachers. Are they true of the present? And how do they apply to the past, even in the ‘golden years’ of progressive education? Ken Jones will talk about teachers’ changing experience of work, as well as the public understanding of that experience.

Ken Jones is Senior Policy Officer for the National Union of Teachers and Emeritus Professor of Education at Goldsmiths, University of London.
