NottinghamPoetrySeriesPoetry from Lisa Samuels and Ágnes Lehóczky

Lisa Samuels is a transnational poet whose recent works include a novel experiment, Tender Girl (Dusie, 2015), the anthology A TransPacific Poetics (edited with Sawako Nakayasu, Litmus, 2017), and a poetry book, Symphony for Human Transport (Shearsman, 2017). Current projects include collaborating on a film version of her book Tomorrowland and composing a new work, The Long White Cloud of Unknowing.

‘Certainly Samuels’s poems would have engaged Wallace Stevens, and not only for their conceptual intrigues. They radiate humanity, curiosity, and desire.’ – Fred Muratori

Ágnes Lehóczky is a poet, scholar and translator originally from Budapest. Her poetry collections published in the UK are Budapest to Babel (Egg Box Publishing, 2008), Rememberer (Egg Box Publishing, 2012) and Carillonneur (Shearsman, 2014). She was Hungary’s representative poet for Poetry Parnassus at Southbank Centre during London’s Cultural Olympiad in Summer 2012. Swimming Pool will be published by Shearsman in October 2017.

‘Ágnes Lehóczky has the rare gift of both instinct and consideration, sophistication and brevity. Her poetry is profound, yet earthen, it reaches and grips, it takes hold.’ – 3:AM Magazine
