Six years after Alan’s death comes a previously unpublished Alan Sillitoe novel, a picaresque tale of an old gang-leader – the Moggerhanger of the title – sending someone out for a series of “jobs”, which involve a cast of weird and wonderful poets, dogs, investigative journalists and others who one hopes were simply figments of Alan’s imagination. The book will be introduced by Alan’s widow, Ruth Fainlight and the evening will include readings from that book and others from one of Nottingham’s most famous writers.
