Becky will be reading from her debut title, Echolocation, a poetic journey into single motherhood, infertility, the adoption process and more, by a writer who has lived them all.

Becky is a commissioned writer, creative writing facilitator and prize-winning performer based in Leeds.

Her work is informed by the belief that not only do writing and the spoken word help us to make sense of the world and our place in it but that they provide us with the tools to transform our lives.

Valley_Press_-_Humphrey_ConingsbyJonathan Davidson will be reading from his book Humfrey Coningsby, a collection of ‘poems, complaints, explanations and demands for satisfaction’, loosely based on the travels of a lord of the manor from Shropshire, in the late 16th century.

Jonathan won an Eric Gregory award in 1990, and is the author of various pamphlets and collections of poetry, including Moving the Stereo (Jackson’s Arm, 1993), The Living Room (Arc, 1994), A Horse Called House (Smith/Doorstop, 1997) and Early Train (Smith/Doorstop, 2011). He has had seven radio plays broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and 4, along with radio adaptations of Geoffrey Hill’s Mercian Hymns and W.S. Graham’s The Nightfishing.

Widely published in journals and anthologies, Rosie Miles has an MA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from Manchester Metropolitan University and currently teaches English Literature at the University of Wolverhampton.

Quirky and memorable, the poems in her debut pamphlet catch the reader off-guard, veering unexpectedly from laughter to tears, testing the boundaries. Their emotive charge is slow burning: it smoulders long after the page is turned.

Admission for this event is £3.00 and refreshments will be available.

There will be 15% discount off any purchases made on the night.
