There are still places for this event. If you have a problem booking in, ring the shop on 0115 8373097 or email bookshop@fiveleaves.co.uk as our system is saying tickets can’t be sold at the moment for this event. No idea why, we are having stern words with our system.

Those who went on the Hunger Marches… those who went to fight in Spain (Sam Wild, from Manchester, was commander of the International Brigade)… those who fought for what is now called the Right to Roam (Benny Rothman led the Kinder Scout Trespass, and the singer Ewan MacColl gave that campaign voice with The Manchester Rambler)… those who took theatre to the people (Joan Littlewood formed the Theatre Union/Theatre Workshop)… those, like Hugh Scanlon, who built the unions in industry… those Jews from Cheetham Hill who fought fascists on the streets of Manchester (and Spain)…

These Mancunians took part of the tumultuous decades which culminated in the election of the Labour Government in 1945. Mike Crowley interviewed many when they were still alive.

This event is organised jointly with with Notts and Derby Labour History Society

Ticket prices include afternoon tea and cake, and a discount on the book.
