A Princess Comes to Our Town, book launch
Angel Row, Nottingham, NG16HL
Join Rowena Edlin-White, Bromley House Library and Five Leaves Bookshop to celebrate the launch of A Princess Comes to Our Town – marking the return of our Bromley House Editions series
Doors open at 5.30pm with a short speech at 6pm from Rowena about the book and Rose Fyleman. Drinks provided. This event will run until 6.30pm.
Rose Fyleman was born in Nottingham in 1877 and died in London in 1957. Her books were hugely popular and her work still regularly appears on fairy-related sites on the internet. Few are those who do not recognise the line “There are fairies at the bottom of our garden…”
This edition of A Princess Comes to Our Town is a facsimile of the Methuen edition first published in 1927, including drawings by Gertrude Lindsay.
The Princess in question visits the Market-Place, the Arboretum, Nottingham Castle, the swimming baths…
Rose Fyleman was a member of Bromley House Library back in the day.
This event is open to members and non-members, and is a chance to visit this members’ library. Unfortunately there is as yet no lift in this historic building and the library is on the first floor.
Copies of the book will be available on the night to buy for £10 (RRP £12.50)
This free event please book your place via Bromley House
