usa1 It seems that the American electorate has started a rebellion against US establishment politics, bringing to the fore candidates that no one would have ever expected one year ago. So what shall we expect from the elections in November? Are these passing or permanent changes in the US political world?

Professor Charles Postel will be in conversation and discussing these issues.

charles_postel_picProfessor Charles Postel is teacher and researcher at San Francisco State University. His focus is social movements and politics in the United States, the political ideas that have inspired radical protest and reform, as well as conservative activism.

His book, The Populist Vision (Oxford 2007), is a history of the Populist movement of the 1890s, the most powerful revolt against corporate power in U.S. history, which won the Bancroft Prize.

This event is in association with the University of Nottingham Department of American and Canadian Studies and the Centre for the Study of Political Ideologies.
